I worked the front desk at Crunch for about 2 years, over this time I had 4 different managers.

On the plus side, access to the facilities is great, management is approachable (when present), and staff are generally supportive of each other. So looking at the company from a member's perspective, you see employees who are either unmotivated and neglected, or stressed out and desperate to sell you something. The trainers and membership advisors are also paid minimum wage, but are paid commissions on top depending on how many sessions/memberships they sell and generally have to work split shifts, which means unless they want to commute back and forth twice a day, they are in the gym for ten to twelve hours a day. For example, the Front Desk staff, who do the vast majority of the customer interaction, are paid minimum wage, aren't offered healthcare, are figuratively chained to the front desk for the duration of their shift, and have to take the brunt of all issues and complaints. It's a great environment to work in with friendly employees, but the lack of communication between departments, outdated billing policies designed to leech as much money off people as possible and the company's disregard for low level employees makes work relatively stressful. Attempt to treat your staff like valuable assets and just maybe you'll see the results you've been recklessly trying to force/squeeze.

The company may experience less turnover.

I feel if you bring back that air of excitement and love for the job the passion to legitimately help not only your staff but members focus on people not just numbers. Act like your employees are adults and not children in need of micromanaging. Provide more training where and when needed. Move forward and work together to grow and improve. Don't spend so much time focusing on where your team/teams have fallen short. Appreciate your smaller teams for there successes and build them up. Yes, every job is work, filled with it's own type of stress and politics but as of late, due to so many changes It's been unbelievably awful.

I feel that the efforts to drive revenue has disrupted the environment I'd once loved. Unfortunately, corporate has been making changes, shifting management around. Members are hands down a pleasure to get to know and help. I loved the facility I worked at the dynamic and people I worked with were amazing.
